You will be designing Rails application based on existing Lotus Notes based Time and Attendance system. I will provide UI interface so you will have to make it look nice on web. Business logic is already mapped out so I will provide how system should function in details. So, you don't need do do much analysis. Application will be hosted centrally and used by 20 remote organizations, therefore it is required to have nice access control integrated. Each organization will have sections, units, managers, HR person, and other approvers, so access will go down to section level, such IT OR Finance section. Each remote location has its own holidays and in some cases multiple sub-locations. Meaning location A for example, might have AA, BB, CC sub locations. Each sub location may have different working days. For example, location AA has working days from Mon - Fri and location BB is from Tue - Sat. It is basically a workflow approval system. Users should be able to apply leave and overtime over the web and managers will approve electronically.
