We have a new VPS with 8gig of ram running a db with 500,000 records (products) that is running slow on product name lookups (7secs or so per search). Initially looking at having MySQL optimized. And then as a second -separate- (ie for a new fee or hourly) but following project looking at having our db structure/php code looked at and advice/suggestions or either changes made on to how that can be improved.
