I am a professional developer (10 years C++, 3 years Java) with about 1 years PHP. I discovered Symfony a couple of days ago, and after reviewing the docs, I realized it will take me about a week to familiarize myself with the API etc, before I could develop my web application. In order to save time, I need an EXPERIENCED Symfony developer to quickly and robustly develop a 'template' (i.e. example) website - with specific features, which will act as a "starting point" for me, to use to complete my website.
Note, I am only interested in hearing from Symfony EXPERTS who are competent PHP5 OOP coders - I am not interested in procedural and/or "spaghetti programming" types (i.e. the "typical" PHP "scripters"). All code must be elegant and beautiful, use OOP principles of abstraction, inheritance and polymorphism (as well as design patterns - if appropriate), wherever possible, and the code must be well documented. This is particularly important, since I intend to use this website as the starting point of my web application - therefore, I need to understand what you have written - and in certain cases where your logic/design or approach is not clear, you may have to explain why you chose that particular approach and/or explain your reasoning.
Having got that out of the way, I have attached the functional requirements of the website. Bear in mind that I only read about/investigated Symfony a few days ago, so if I am accidentally duplicating functionality that is already provided by Symfony (or there is a better way of doing something, than the way I have suggested - or an available community plugin that has this functionality), please feel free to point it out to me - (along with your reasoning as to why your way is better).
## Deliverables
This project should take an experienced Symphony developer no more than a day or two to implement, since a lot of the functionality I require is/are already available as Symfony plugins or community contributed plugins.
The whole idea of this project is to enlist the services of a Symfony PROFESSIONAL who can help me get Symfony up and running with the requested functionality as quickly as possible, whilst explaining what he has done, and why he has done it.
This not only gives me a "working model", but also allows me to use the completed project as the starting point of my website, so that I can get my website up and running as quickly as possible, without having to go through a steep learning curve, trying to figure out what works best, by myself.
