Desktop File Duplicate Checker

I want a tool to spider the local drives and identify duplicate files so that I can delete the older versions. The tool will mark the duplicates and deletion can be manual with an option to set the deletion to automatic. We can have upto 500 GB of data in a disk. To determine duplicate: Check the first 100 (flexible about this; option to change is required) alpha characters ignoring the spaces, line breaks, punctuations etc of each file. If there is a match above the limit set (in %) it is a duplicate. I am also open to pattern matching if you have an algorithm that works well. The tool must ignore all files which are password protected and corrupted files (if any). I am open to other ideas as well. I want a robust solution which I can use on several computers. I only want to check Word, text and HTML files now. For HTML files, only body section must be checked and HTML tags must be ignored. I only envisage comparison of files of the same format - that is only Word files, only HTML files etc. But I must have the option to compare across file formats.

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.

3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
