Website Help (XML, Javascript, jQuery, AJAX)

i am a novice programmer (perl/php) and database (sql) person, I have some experience but am interested in working with someone as a teacher/tutor to help code and explain some javascript, jquery, xml, AJAX solution to help solve a problem i'm having on simple project i'm working on.

I have a mysql database hosted on [url removed, login to view] and would like to create a couple of forms to be used for a website which is hosted on a completely different domain, www.domain2.com.

I would like to use 2-3 forms located at [url removed, login to view] to query the database located at [url removed, login to view] and then pass/display the search results from the query at at [url removed, login to view] on pages at the [url removed, login to view] website

the database, search forms, search results display pages, and all the queries are already completed and working on [url removed, login to view] - i need help on trying to pass the data back and forth between [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view]

i am not sure how to accomplish this task? but i think i'll need to use a more modern solution than straight up php/mqsql and/or perl cgi programming.

i'm looking forward to working with someone who has good english and teaching skills and can meet over the internet using skype for text and voice chatting, in addition to a screen sharing program.
