We are a clothing manufacturing company, using Salesforce for tracking orders and production scheduling. An order can use different styles, sizes, other components, account, signoff field etc. We receive many orders over the web and want to mass upload these web orders (with required details for each order) and automate the generation of production headers and production orders. All orders from Web can be downloaded into Excel. Upload to Salesforce can be from Web or Excel.Approx. 10% of all orders are coming from web, with 90% being keyed in directly in Salesforce. One possible solution may be to create a new object in Salesforce, where all orders are uploaded from Excel. Then a back-end Salesforce solution is developed to transfer all uploaded orders from the new object into the main Salesforce database where all other non-web orders are kept.

Hi I have worked with Salesforce API before. Take a look at this project I did a few months ago for one of my clients: https://www.freelancer.com/jobs/PHP-Software-Architecture/PHP-website-Billing-Integration/ I have used their REST API to authenticate using OAuth and add accounts made somewhere else on the salesforce using it's sobjects. We can simply make a script which you feed that with your excel file and the script mass upload data to your salesforce account beside others. There is no need to have intermediate layer. We can easily active API access to your main salesforce database and uploads objects there. Please let's discuss more about details when you have time. Thanks, Helmot
