Hello, I have a PHP script which imports products into 4 tables. - Main productinfo - Productimages - Product barcodes/EAN - Productimages The script downloads XML files from ICECAT in order to get the product information. This all works. Problem is, is that whenever I do more than 70 products in 1 script run, it slow down terribly. 70 products between 6-8 seconds. 75 products 10 minutes. This project is about debugging the script and find out the reason why it's slowing down. As far as I know it's not a RAM or CPU shortage. Experience is the key in this project.

Hello. I have very big experience for icecat, have developed icecat import modules for Magento, ZenCart, oscommerce. Probably your script is doing insert row by row into every table. To make tables loading really fast it should prepare text files first and then use LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE mysql instruction. Please let me know if you are interested, I believe I can help you. Hello, I can take a look at it, even the 6-8 seconds for 70 products sounds too long and very strange it goes up by 10 minutes for just 5 products more. I used to run my own site importing data and doing arround 100.000 inserts/updates/deletion and anaylzing the data and that took in average 1.5s per run. Got over 15 years experience and performance tuning is one of my beloved areas. Sincerly, Thorsten Sanders

I have a computer engineering degree from CMU and I've been programming for 20 years. I've done a lot of performance tuning and fixed a lot of critical problems. I've been programming with PHP for the last 5 years. I can solve your performance problem, although keep in mind it might not be the PHP. It might be DB interaction or waiting on socket input, etc. But I will track it down and fix it.

Hello. I will need more details like what are You using to parse XML. From my experience You are using ineffective parser or Your script is not handling memory too well. First try to increase memory limit and wait for results, check if You can lower memory usage in this script, if it's not better change XML parser to a different one
