Disable SFTP but SSH should enable

Hi, I am a Linux system admin who have good understanding/knowledge on SSH/SFTP protocol and restrict access to either SSH or SFTP. I have tested your requirement(Disable SFTP access but NOT ssh for some users) at my in-house environment. It require, some modification in ssh configuration file and small shell script. Hence, revising my bid. NOTE: Solution is already test and now it would take 10-15 minutes to deploy at your end.

just change one line of sshd_config will have sftp disabled. just change one line of sshd_config will have sftp disabled

It so simple that it even not worth to pay any money for this. Open: vim /etc/ssh/sshd_config Comment out: Subsystem sftp /usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server Restart your ssh service: service ssh restart Thats it. Ros

Assuming that your server is running FreeBSD, Linux or some other Unix-like OS, I can do this easily. If it is MS Windows, I can still do it but it will take twice as long and cost 3 times as much. Also, you need to understand that disabling sftp and optionally scp WILL NOT prevent a technically competent user with SSH access from transferring files onto or off of your machine.

I can write a Shell, Python or Ruby script to go through all accounts and list ones that have full SSH access or those who have SFTP only. Based on that script can reove desired accounts or just lock them by editing appropriate file.

Hi this is a two minute change to a config file (/etc/ssh/sshd_config) and then a restart of ssh via /etc/init.d/sshd restart (assuming CentOS - Ubuntu is similar but sometimes the path changes) I could perform this anytime from now onwards if you can provide SSH access - or I could provide instructions for you to perform if you don't want to provide SSH login details :-)
