I am needing someone that can put together a small script for me being that for some reason I am not able to get it to work. What I am needing is basically a script in php that will pull the logged in user in Joomla username and then feed it to my external program by use of ajax. From what i am reading this is basically how it should work. Ajax calls on the php file I need to have a php file for example [login to view URL] that will pull the username from Joomla also needs to make sue the user is logged in. If not logged in then the user would be redirected to log in. If user is logged in then it would return the username of the user and send it to ajax in my external program. Ajax then will take the data and display it where i am wanting it by the use of [login to view URL] i my external program.

Dear mate I am expert about Ajax calling. I can write it in jQuery Ajax with a full script + Joomla code for PHP ( to get logged user status). If you only need to username to other external link ( of course external process will happen on your external link), we will check them via GET or POST params [ in Firebug Console). Okay? The thing is if user not logged in then you want them to be logged in but then might be they are not online. You are aksing a script to pull logged username and then display and send to your external program, that is good, but make them logged in part is not that clear. Let's chat.
