PHP string break up & image overlay

problem: PHP creates a single string of text when it overlays on an image. I need the string to converted to a block of text, so it my overlay correctly wiht the background image.
process: I currently have a key being passed through an img src link to a PHP page. The php page queries with the key in the url string. The query produces a message, a static line of text, and a dynamic number of lines with codes for gift items. I have included the image file. Small job for the right person, have already try once....please help.
