Middle Python back-end developer - Stable & long term remote position

Many people are familiar with the stories of how famous models were scouted back in the days. Take Kate Moss being discovered as a 14-year-old smoking a cigarette in an airport, a 15-year-old Naomi Campbell walking through Covent Garden or a teenage Jourdan Dunn found while browsing in Primark. All were stopped and asked “Have you ever considered modeling?” and the rest is fashion history. Those models just happened to be in the right place at the right time. But in the days of social media, more and more models are being found online rather than scouting the streets. We created Beholder ([login to view URL]) - a scouting platform powered by AI to make talent discovery easy. In an environment that is highly competitive to sign the next top model, we give agencies a considerable advantage that makes Talent discovery effortless and more rewarding. Our tech is based on social media monitoring, face recognition and an algorithm that makes model predictions. By using our software Agencies will be able to scale their scouting productivity at fraction of a trained scout cost. Two of the founders have been in the model management Industry for almost a decade and worked for Elite model management, where they noticed that talent scouts are still following the old ways of searching for New Faces. Our ambition is to become innovation drivers in the model management industry!
WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for remote team members of middle/senior level, backend developer, for a 1+ year contract with hourly pay and approximately 40h of weekly effort. Expect daily stand-ups, longer retrospective/planning video meetings 2 times per month, code reviews by fellow team members, slack channels for the whole team to discuss work topics. Working hours are flexible, with the exception of 4 overlap hours per business day to enable direct communication between team members (we are based in UTC+2/UTC+3).
Our source and issue management are in Gitlab. We use GitLab Flow as our Git branching model. A suite of automated tests is running with the help of Gitlab CI. Nearest plans - introducing code quality and test coverage metrics to the CI process. All our services are hosted on DigitalOcean. Docker containers orchestrated with Kubernetes. We use Sentry for error tracking and [login to view URL] for log management.
Our data is stored in PostgreSQL 11 and Redis we manage database migrations with Alembic. Some tables are huge, thus a good knowledge of indexes for query optimization will be handy.
Our main language is Python 3.7, while the customer-facing frontend is written using React.
For Python - type hints in function signatures and PEP 8 as Style Guide are obligatory. The main frontend is talking to a backend API, written using Flask-Restplus + Flask-JWT-Extended + SQLAlchemy
Admin frontend is written using Flask-Admin + SQLAlchemy
We have a web scraping service (scraping more than 2000 different sites - quite a challenge!) and an Instagram scraping service, those scrapers built with Scrapy, twisted and gevent.
We have a machine learning service where we use Facenet+Tensorflow.
Python dependencies are managed using Poetry. An ideal candidate is an expert in some of the listed technologies and eager to learn the others.
