This project is to design a plastic (3D printed) case for a handheld instrument similar to a large “Fluke” multi-meter. We are looking for a practical design with smooth rounded curves that will be easy to carry & handle in factories & farms. It will comprise two halves in a clamshell type arrangement held together by screws. The circuit board with display and push buttons will be mounted to one half of the case then the other half will be fitted. The case could include a wrap round or hand-grips made from a flexible material. The case also needs to be splash-proof but not submersible. The design work will also include the push buttons which press onto normal PCB switches but the buttons need to have some positive spring in their feel. The deliverables will include a couple of initial sketches of options to agree a design direction; a fully dimensioned drawing and files to allow 3D manufacture of the finished part. The selected designer will initially receive additional notes & sketches of matters of importance together with a 3D file of the circuit board & battery. The designer should have experience of industrial applications requiring some rough handling.
