You can choose which analytic software program to use so they can use the software that is most compatible with their computer and their experience. You can select from a variety of social media open source or free trail use software from Quintly, Cyfe, or Klout; or they can analyze social media data using general purpose analytics software such as Tableau, Predictive Analytics, or Power BI. Your steps for Project 1: Download and learn basics of an analytics app, find a data set of social media, research a topic and specify a particular issue within that topic, analyze the social media data, and produce a 2 page single spaced report that includes a specific conclusion (include the visualizations as an appendix not counted in the 2 pages). Be clear about how you did your analysis and how to interpret your visualizations. The report will be evaluated on a specific, limited and clear issue, key assumptions identified supportive and clear visualizations (3 minimum) a evidence based conclusion that is careful and limited, with alternative interpretations explained.
