Design and on-going assistance with FileMaker - 26/07/2018 16:48 EDT

We have a number of spreadsheet-based systems that should really be in a database and we want to transfer them to FileMaker apps. We would prefer to develop them in-house, but lack the expertise to do this quickly. We have a member of staff who is learning to use FileMaker, and has written some simple applications, but needs help to develop and manage the more sophisticated systems that we ultimately want.
Our plan is to find a freelancer who can build apps for us, based on detailed specifications we will provide, and who can thereafter provide assistance for our in-house programmer to further develop these apps, as and when changes are needed.
I appreciate this is rather vague, but currently I simply want to know if there is anyone out there who works in this way, and how the work should be structured and charged. I would also be happy to hear from anyone who can suggest a more efficient and effective approach.
