My 37 years in journalism, mostly as a writer and copy editor in the entertainment and features departments of a Tribune-owned newspaper, allowed me to create zinger headlines, captivating photo captions, and reader-grabbing story leads. I won numerous awards for my insightful, often-clever word play. So far I have edited nine books -- a children's story, a self-help book, an illustrated handbook aimed at the entrepreneurial crowd, two personal journals about spirituality, one thriller set in Africa and the UK and another set in the Mideast, a young adult romance novel and fantasy tale. I have a gift for making dialogue resonate with readers and my keen eye for characterization in fiction is highly developed. Clarity, for me, is paramount. Clarity with pizzazz takes it over the top.
