I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. I then received my PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Cambridge and The Babraham Institute, UK. Subsequently I moved to the United States and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at UCLA, before transitioning to a position as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, Mattel Children's Hospital, UCLA. During this time, my findings led to me co-founding a start-up biotechnology company. I then left my position at UCLA to serve as the Director of Research at the new company for 2 1/2 years.
As such, I bring an unparalleled breadth of research experience to my work as a freelance writer and editor. I have written and/or edited hundreds of manuscripts, grants, abstracts, posters, presentations, websites, books, and more. I have specific expertise in cancer, metabolic diseases, neurological disorders, oncology, endocrinology, and cardiology.
