Each student must find two Internet of Things or Connected Devices to critique. This can include: Apple/Android watches, Fitbit/Jawbone health monitors, NEST thermostats (or other smart thermostats) RING wireless doorbells (or similar devices), etc. 1. Critique the devices based on the principles we are studying in class. Comment on both form and function (e.g. how well does it operate AND how does it fit/look/feel?) For both devices, identify at least one area where the device uses one principle(s) we are discussing in class in an effective manner. If either or both devices violate any of the principles, discuss what they have done wrong (if you believe they have adhered to all of the principles, write a few sentences defending your position). As part of this critique, discuss any strengths and weaknesses of the devices you have selected. 2. If there is a companion software application (such as an app on your phone) that one of the devices works with, critique that as well. Does the app adhere or violate the principles? How could it be improved? If there is NOT a companion software application (e.g. both devices are 100% stand-alone), briefly describe a simple mobile phone application (of your own creation) that could be used to enhance the user experience. Hand-sketch a simple screen mockup (only 1 screen required) that illustrates your idea 3. Include pictures of the devices you critiqued and a picture of the companion application (or your own mockup idea, if there was no companion application) and include them in your critique write-up.
