Cross-Cultural Management Module Assessment The module has one summative assessment (4,000-word report) which constitutes 100% of your mark. This piece of coursework assesses the entire set of module Learning Outcomes. Deadline 25th January 2017 at 12 o’clock (noon). Students are required to: 1) Choose an international company operating in one of the following industries: creative industry, environment, technology, agro-food, pharmaceutical, publishing, hospitality and vacation, urban planning, broadcasting, celebrity promotion, commodities, automotive, sports and entertainment; 2) Identify a particular, significant event that affected the company at an organizational level within the previous year (e.g. from a year ago till now) 3) Monitor the external communication of the company collecting evidence from w/c 5th December till w/c 23rd January on the basis of the following guidelines: a. Select three sources of external communication (e.g. annual report, quarterly report, notes to stakeholders, advertisement, press office releases, social media, crowdfunding, etc.) b. Compare and contrast the information that emerges from those sources with regard to the event that affected the company, in the last year, across three countries of your choice 4) Critically illustrate, from an organization theory point of view, the implications of the event that affected your selected company internally and externally 5) Critically discuss the implications of culture from both an organizational and communication perspective across the three countries you have selected. Assessment criteria a) Ability to critically analyse an organizational context and its processes by referring to the cultural dimension b) Ability to theoretically justify and to synthesize organizational development alternatives c) Ability to critically evaluate processes for the operation and delivery of organizational decisions d) Ability to reflect on the learning process in terms of initiative, responsibility-taking, ethics, leadership, culture.
