Hi. My bid only for configuration of incoming route without consultation about "best practice setup". I relly dont think that there is best practice, all tasks different. But I generally can recomend protect if with fail2ban and use strong passwords for sip accounts and for ssh.

I am 15 years experienced senior software developer. I have mostly worked on the VOIP projects. i have designed hybrid VOIP PBX. I have used Asterisk, i have written modules for it and configured. And i added some extra capabilities to freepbx. (About copying trunks, TLS etc..) I used b2bua at the past and i used opensips too.

the part to configure the incoming route is peanuts. What you may be missing is that the incoming call must match a caller ID (CID) on freepbx side to go into a predefined route. I would troubleshoot by going into asterisk CLI (asterisk command line), and see the incomnig call CID, then setting it up as a filter for an inbound route. I will need SSH access to where asterisk is to fulfill this task
