**Caterpillar Inc. suffered in the global economic recession of 2009 but seems to be recovering. Produce a report which analyses Caterpillar's recent profitability and performance. You should assess to what extent strategy concepts introduced on this course provide an explanation for these changes in performance in an increasingly globalised world. You will need to consider at least TWO of the strategy concepts.**
Using the above as a basis, I would like a 10 page report to be written on the construction machinery manufacturer. The report has to be fully original and written to degree level, it needs to be free of plagiarism.
I will need a brief intro setting out the structure of the report as well as giving a short background on the business. I want the report to be structured as followed:
Intro
A section looking at perfomance, so share prices over the last 10 years, and real sales figures (need to be deflated) over the last 10 years, comparison how they have performed in relation to the competitor, Komatsu. talk about why certain trends may be evident, such as moves made by the business or other factors.
A section on profitability, in here focus on financial ratios such as net profit ratio, operating profit ratio, ROCE, debt to equity ratio. So talk about these over the last 10 years and say what they show and why.
Then move on to talking about strategies and how they may explain the recovery for caterpillar since the recession, the strategies which I want you to use are porters five forces model and and the resource based theory.
When writing the report take in to account the question at the start, bring in to it the globalized part.
I will provide all data, such as income statements, balance sheets, ratios. You will be expected to use sources such as yearly reports and reputable articles and journals.
I need it to be referenced to Harvard style requirements.
