Audiogame Engine

Project GEA (Game Engine for Audio) GEA is the code-name for this project, which is actually TWO projects. Building an audiogame engine, and kick-starting its release with an adaptation of the Lone Wolf gamebook series in audio. The project aims to create a small, but functional, audiogame engine that is capable of managing 4-5 separate audio track (essentially for narration, effects and music) and letting the gamer choose between a few options at the end of each narrated paragraph. The project itself was born a month ago or so. I took the first 4-5 paragraphs from the first Lone Wolf book to produce the technical demo. The paragraphs have already been narrated by a talented speaker, and some sound effects and soundtrack is already present, but will be redone on a later stage in our Swiss studio. The short term plan is making a technical demo that can support at least one audio file (narration, sounds and music all mixed) and some choices via buttons or numpad, preferably running under Windows. It could be done in Flash. The ultimate goal, though, is to make the application available for a wide range of media – I think that such a game would be beneficial for the blind and partially sighted community (integrating vocal commands), and would be fun to play on a smartphone while commuting on the train.
