I suggest doing the load balancing with nginx ( as long as you only want web application traffic) so using HTTP application layer controls shall be more suitable than using network controls. Also the application needs to handle sessions in the database s a user would not need to login again everytime the link is switched. And last the database needs to enable locks on state so if a web app server is writing on a record it would delay any reading or writing request for the same record from another app until the writing is complete.
