ArcView Data Extraction

We currently use ArcView/Avenue code that draws a box around two connecting points (aka link). We use the following layers that we can provide: BTA/MTA Cities Highways We are looking for some code that can help expedite a project we are working on. The system currently draws a box around two endpoints using specific calculations, etc. We are then going to analyze the sections where the market intersects with the box, see the red line in the example (from now on we’ll call this the intersected market). We would like the system to be able to push out data in a useable format (excel, csv, etc) that would contain the following information: 1a. List all cities that fall within the intersected market. 1b. We would like to enter a threshold (in miles) that we could use if we wanted to get all the cities that are X miles away from the intersected market.(and possibly enter a min or max population). 2a. List highways that go through the intersected market. 2b. Be able to enter a threshold (in miles) that we could use if we wanted to find out what highways are X miles away from the intersected market. 3. List the area (in square miles) of the intersected market. We would like to be able to run the analysis in groups of “links?? (few hundred at a time if possible). We have a list of about 5,000. We would like the data to look something like this: 1852 BTA210 1,256 City1 City2 City3 Highway1 Highway2 If it would be easier to do 3 different runs, one for the cities, one for the highways, and one for the square miles, that would be fine also. After signing a NDA, we will email the "code" that we currently use to generate the box. When you give your estimate, please break out the total for each section 1-3. Also, if you think you can do part of it, please bid and let us know that also. The last project we put up for bidding was cancelled and this bigger project came out of it. We have the contract are ready to go.
