We are currently working on a project and I need a very basic and simple bluetooth module that will be integrated to our project. The module you're supposed to develop is quite simple and intuitive. It will run on a Linux PC with DSL Linux (or Puppy) and it will be used to push files (such as text, audio, video, images etc) via Bluetooth collection to mobile devices (cell phone, PDA etc.). The Bluetooth standard that will be used to transfer files is Obex, and the programming language to be used is Java. Your module will be provided a file, the MAC address of the target mobile device, and the class of the mobile device (so you'll not bother for discovery of the device, you'll assume the device and the file is right there) as input parameters and you'll send the file to the mobile device specified with the MAC address. You can make use of any Bluetooth library or framework that is free to use and opensource. The class file(s) you develop should be able to push the file to phones supporting Obex (with or without SDP). For starters we'll make the tests of your program with BREW phones (Siemens SG75 in our case), Windows Mobile 2005 phones (iMate models), and N60 platform phones (such as Nokia models). Developing this class should not be a problem for anyone with Java/Bluetooth experience, and will probably take just a couple of hours of work.
