Custom Linux Distribution

This project is to create a custom Linux distro. This distro will install several programs 1) Create a Linux distribution using graphic files we already have and build from either Fedora, Debian or another Linux distro (we are open to suggestions). The distribution's final result will show our graphic image and text information as opposed to the standard Linux install info. 2) Create summary documentation of the steps that were used to create the distribution. 3) If necessary, create appropriate script files using bash, perl, python, etc. to automate the process of creating the distribution. This is continued under Deliverables below (due to character limits on Description). ## Deliverables Continued from Description: 4) The distribution needs to install the base Linux install as well as several packages (and dependencies). There need to be options during the install to further customize the software installs. The software that needs to be installed is: During the install, the script should ask which version of apache to install, a choice between: [login to view URL] (1.3.34) [login to view URL] (2.2.20) The script will also ask which version of PHP to install: PHP 4.4.2 or 5.1.2 During the install, the script needs to ask the installer to chose a root password for mysql and a postmaster password for postgresql. The installer will install: Bind 9.3.2 mySQL 5.0 PostgreSQL 8.1.3 OpenSSH 4.3 Perl 5.8.8 Proftpd 1.2.10 mod_ssl version 2.8.25 for apache 1.3.34 awstats 6.5 Qmail needs to be installed with the usual add-ons: (latest versions of below) Qmail with below: 1. Qmail itself - qmail, ucspi-tcp, daemontools w/enhanced logging. 2. John Simpson's massive qmail patch, which includes (among others) qmailqueue, smtp-auth and TLS smtp encryption. 3. EZmlm - A fast and easy to use mailing list manager that works through qmail. 4. Autoresponder - Enables auto-responder capabilities on your qmail server. 5. Vpopmail - Enables virtual e-mail hosting for multiple domains. Available with or without mysql integration. 6. Vqadmin - A web based interface to manage Vpopmail virtual domains on your qmail server. 7. Maildrop - A server-wide mail filtering tool. 8. Qmailadmin - A web based interface for managing vpopmail virtual e-mail accounts. 9. Courier-imap/imap-ssl - The popular IMAP/IMAP-SSL server. 10. Squirrelmail - A web based mail client with a boat load of cool plugins available. 11. Clam Antivirus - a virus scanner for all incoming e-mail. Tied in via qmail-scanner. 13. SpamAssassin - Tied in via Qmail-scanner. A server-wide SPAM filter. 14. qmail-scanner - The alternate queueing mechanism that allows for the use of Clam Anti-virus, Spamassassin and much more. 15. qms-analog - a patch for qmailscanner that allows for extra options as well as enhanced server stats. 16. qmailanalog - A qmail log analysis tool, made better by qms-analog. Analyzes qmail logs and then sends reports via e-mail. 17. Horde 18. sqwebmail There is one more script that the installer needs to run, but it is confidential. Simply ask if you are interested in this project and I will explain it. Additionally, there will be a few custom lines that will need to be injected into configuration files. For example, some custom lines in apache httpd.conf. We will give you the exact text and exact locations to insert this text. 5) Advise as to how the distribution can be rebuilt using updated files (i.e. security patches, etc). Both CD (maximum 700MB) and DVD (single layer) ISO images will need to be created. We expect to see 4 CD Install ISO's, 4 CD Source ISO's, 1 DVD Install ISO and 1 DVD Source ISO. 6) When this project is done, any person should be able to take a cd with our ISO on it and place it in a new computer and have the above software all installed with the distro (with our logos and text during the install) and end up with a machine running all of the above with very little interaction (simply asking the questions we specify). 7) See the white box linux distribution site for some details on how to build a Red Hat workalike distribution. 8) Based on our previous experience, someone who understands how to do this should be able to complete the ISO building in a few hours. The documentation and script building aspect will add additional time. You will need to have ample disk space. 9) We have a test computer that we can let you use for testing during the build process. Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. All files must meet a file integrity check, both with "linux mediacheck" and rpm. 3) Deliverables must be in an ready-to-run ISO format with Install #1 being bootable. In addition, CDs should be able to be run against the "linux mediacheck" feature as well as part of the installation process. A md5sum/sha1sum value will be provided along with the uploaded ISO image to verify integrity. Both installation and source code ISO's will need to be created in both a CD and DVD format. The initial set of deliverables will be for the x86 CPU platform for computers with an i586 or better CPU chip. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Linux (i586 CPU or better).
