Application Monitor

My application interfaces with another application which publishs its objects . The other application is the CAD program MicroStation and it has a complete VBA suite of objects etc I need to be able to know what process ID is running of Microstation and be able to identify whether 2 or more instances are running My app can open an instance or use an existing instance, but I am having disastrous results if I mix the instances up.
