# Description of the SMTP-POC

## Is it possible to send data with the protocol SMTP without using SMTP/POP3-server?

The reason to this POC is to test if it is possible to create a dataflow with the protocol SMTP without using SMTP/POP3 servers to store “mail??.

The POC consist of 2 GUI programs.

The Sender

Consist of 1 textbox, a send button and cancel button. The user fills in text in the textbox and press Send. The textdata is stored within a SMTP message and sent to the receiver program and wait for the receiver to send a respons message back thru SMTP. When the respons message is received, the sender do a commit (notify the user that the message is received) and sends a reply to the receiver that it has commited the message sent.

The Receiver

Consist of 1 textbox and cancel button. The Receiver wait for incoming SMTP-packages. When at incoming SMTP-package arrives it show the data in the textbox and send a reply message back to the sender thru SMTP. Then wait for the commited message from the sender and show the user that the sender has done a commit.
