I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Studies from the University of Cape Town and I’m now working in a small architecture firm in Durbanville. I am passionate about timber and timer design. Timber was also a large component in my final project design at UCT. I have also attended the Seventh Wood Conference 2017 at the CTICC. Sustainable materials and passive design is always a key aspect in all of my designs. I am very passionate about changing the perception of sustainable design strategies in South Africa. Sustainable design is seen as a luxury for the wealthy due to the perceived high cost of passive and active design strategies. Awareness and sustainable education is therefore very important. My extensive work experience in multiple design fields prepared me for several design challenges. I have experience with single and multi-dwelling units, storage and factory designs, and refurbishments and interior design projects. Knowledge in both Autocad and Revit programs combined with Photoshop and Sketchup enables me to produce a range of drawings. My time at Lanel Design Studio shown me the tremendous effects that design have on our experience of life in every aspect. Spaces and products should be designed for enjoyment and comfort.
