The project basically aims at monitoring pulse rate and temperature of the patient with the help of IR sensors and temp sensors respectively. The data will be processed by the Bluetooth 2.0(HC 05) and transmit it to the smartphone. And in case of emergency(values crossing in a threshold defined according to standard values) It should be able to call/text to the caretaker. Our requirement for the project: (i)To modify an already existing apps or create one. (ii)Java code to accept contact no. from the user to contact in case of emergency. (iii)To read the values recieved by the device and monitor it

I've done a similar project using the HC 05 Bluetooth module before. This was monitoring and controller the voltage and current of a micro-controller using an Android Smartphone. I was able to get it to Read and input values to the micro-controller. My first hand experience can guarantee you the top quality product for this project for a cheap price.
