I'm a residential builder in Dallas, TX and I'm looking for a trusted resource who can take my design concepts and turn them into permit-ready CAD drawings. I'm not an architect but do a lot of my own designing for my smaller projects. I will typically work in SketchUp, creating both 3D visualization and 2D floor plans, and then provide these inputs to the architect/draftsman for actual input into CAD. We will work together to refine the project, including electrical plan, wall sections, site plan, etc. You don't need to be a licensed architect. Ideally you have more to add than just inputting data into CAD, and can add value to the design process. You can view my style of project at my website www.ikonres.com.
Might be an ideal freelance job for an architectural student, or someone looking to get involved in urban development with an established builder. For my larger projects I will have a full-fledged architect take on 100% of the design process. But on my smaller projects, since I've done so many I already know what design concepts I'm looking for, I'll do the bulk of the up-front design work. Attached is an example of the input I'd provide to start the process, and then this will be turned into CAD by you, including floor plans, site plan, elevations, electrical plan, roof plan, wall section (based on standard local-based requirements).
While I have a current, pressing need, this will also be an ongoing opportunity for the right resource, as I'm always building many projects throughout a year.
