Hi I need help to setup and control 3 stepper motors (Nema 23) with code. The project is simple. I don't need any system or any logic built. All I need to do is to have 3 stepper motors connected to the computer and be able to send simple commands to them to make them rotate. I'm a programmer but I don't no much about electronics. I'm going to need information about how to connect them to controllers and to the computer. Regards Behzad

Hello, I am both a programmer and an electronics engineer, I am vice-champion in an international robotics competition in which I have used the Nema 23 stepper motor, to control them via your computer we can use an Arduino (or any development board) the Arduino will be connected to the PC via USB and it will read your stdin and interpret it to PWM signals to rotate the motors. Use arduino uno connected to your usb/serial port. You send command over serial port, arduino will order the device to rotate/move. Relevant Skills and Experience All you need is to have a custom command for the arduino so it will translate and make which device will be controlled

Hi. Very interesting what you want to do. I propose to use the serial port of your computer to send commands to a microcontroller (it could be an arduino module) that in turn would be connected to a small driver to drive the stepper motor. Something simple: PC -> serial port -> arduino -> driver -> stepper motor. The commands that were sent could be the position of the step motor in degrees, for example: Motor1.250: positions the motor 1 in 250 degrees. I am an engineer , Programming is my hobby. I have completed many automation system jobs at the company where I work. I think your project is simple. The stepper motor can be control by arduino. Then arduino - computer can communication by serial ttl. I can build arduino code and i can build simple application for computer.
