Farida’s Style is a family run Fashion Label of Eritrean origin which begun centered around The Designer Farida’s wish to do charitable work and fund social projects in the Horn of Africa. We are 2 years old and re-branding our company, therefore require a new logo that can be used on anything (including fabric). We feel this particular project requires a special artist, who understand our vision, knows how to work with the suggested styles and create something unique that stands out from other logos. The ideal bidder will have to show understanding of what we require, and be ready to start work when the project is awarded. Even though we want this done as soon as possible, the artist must not rush the project. Within the Eritrean community, the designer behind Farida’s Style (1.1) is regarded as classy and elegant, being known as proud of her Eritrean culture (1.2), like many Eritreans. This is expressed through the clothing she produces, just as the Arabic word for “unique” is Farida, this is what the designer strives to produce, unique blends of different cultural influences. Gold is culturally important to Eritreans and is worn during special occasions and celebrations (1.3), and is incorporated in the clothing using golden thread in patterns. One of the unique ways Farida ties together multiple influences, is in using intricate patterns of Ottoman origin (1.4) and taking further the capes traditionally worn in Eritrea by bride and groom (1.5), and creating golden or silver embroidery in a symmetrical pattern over different colors of velvet, in the form of a waist coat (1.6). Another is by the use of stones, crystals and peal to create stunning effects and patterns (1.7). Having lived in many countries in the Middle East and North Africa region, she has kept up with different styles from different places and different fashions in different times, and is now drawing from this through her creations. We wish to see a logo made that represents the same spirit. Something able to unite these aspects into a logo, and therefore the front image of our company. We will be using this, or part of this, logo in our fabrics as a motif that can be replicated into a pattern (1.8), so this could turn out to be a great opportunity for us both to grow! Please share with us your ideas, let us know your questions and we hope together we can complete this project In brief, important things to remember: - We are working with textiles and displaying our logo on our textiles is very important which is why we would like the letters “F.S” or a symbol unique to our company, which can used as a replicating motif. - In keeping with the ideal of uniqueness, the logo/symbol should be created from scratch, without the use of stock imagery or typefaces. - Geometric forms & shapes are universal fundamentals and could be a good template as it manifests in all cultures, be it found in our Eritrean motifs , through Islamic Geometric art or in its purer forms, such as in the Tree of Life and Metatron’s Cube . - We are a young company, so we welcome all criticism, advice and questions !
