Mining Technologies Research Fellowship/Consultancy

(3-6 months fixed term) in Amsterdam Applications are invited from senior researchers with a background in information technologies, social or engineering sciences to participate in an open-ended interdisciplinary research initiative designed to explore future opportunities for these sectors. The Fellowship is funded by an industry concern but is externally based in a downtown environment selected to foster creativity. The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of a small interdisciplinary team including selected employees of one of Germany’s biggest engineering companies to generate innovative conceptual and/or practical proposals and think-pieces geared to the industries’ ongoing development. Creative “blue sky” thinking is encouraged, and critical perspectives that might lead to alternative business strategies as well as innovative ways of addressing broader social, environmental and economic challenges are welcomed. In addition to offering flexibility with regard to research design, execution and outputs, the position provides a chance to influence thinking and practice within one of Europe’s key industrial players. Candidates may have either regionally focused and/or international expertise and research experience. The ability to speak and write fluently in English is essential. Residency in Amsterdam for the duration of the contract is required. An accommodation supplement and a daily allowance are provided in addition to the stipend.
