I have an access database and I need to have a form with a few editable fields and a button to generate an XML file in a specific format. I need to be able to edit as needed for updates. Im guessing this would take someone with more visual basic experience less then an hour.
Requirements:
Must have all fields in XML file in tables
Must have a form that will:
Have a Drop down to select a table that contains the phone info (currently there are 2 D5 MCP R146 and D5 MCP R145 ) Have a drop down to select the mac address in the first table, and 2 text box's to enter a new 10 digit phone number, and IP Address a save button, that will save the updated info in the selected table and save a properly formatted xml file , the file name for the saved xml file must be SEP(MACaddress).cnf - The Mac address having been the one selected in the form.
Must save the XML file with exact format and node's as in the sample.
The VBA script needs to put all values in the Database in the XML with the correct format and sequence. It needs to replace the values for 5 nodes with the values entered in the form when saved.
They are:
The entered Phone number needs to go into:
<name>1234567890</name>
<featureLabel>1234567890r</featureLabel>
The entered IP address needs to into:
<processNodeName>[login to view URL]</processNodeName>
<backupProxy>[login to view URL]</backupProxy>
<proxy>[login to view URL]</proxy>
I have been playing with this but am unable to get the format working on the xml export with VBA code.
Attached is my current database, I imported from the XML and added tables for phones listed above.
Also AEP001E7A26C is the XML file, the output file needs have exact same format as this.
The txt. file is the vba code I was trying to adapt, not sure if its of use, it produces an output that is somewhat close but I cant figure out how to add the variables and nested nodes to get the format correct.
Hi Im an expert in .Net technologies. I have been working in banking sw development for the last 20 years. I can create a simple c# winform to manipulate the xml files as you need. Regards Carlos
