We just had Spark IM and Openfire server so we can IM, However our main problem is that one of computers serves as the host server for OF. But its constantly being turned on and off. One of the solution we thought about is install and config OF to our Synology NAS which is always on. I really would like someone in expertise in this. Hi, i don't think is a good idea install Openfire on synology. Openfire uses a lot of memory to run, and also need an external DB to operate. You don't have a VPS or other server to install it?

Hello, I have a lot of experience with Jabber servers (managing 10 ejabberd servers right now) and clients (I have also written jabber enabled applications using existing client libraries). I also have experience with NAS devices (I have recovered data from such devices multiple times - for example the WD Sharespace). My suggestion is to use ejabberd (because of its high performance and flexible configuration) on a VPS (for example a cheap droplet from DigitalOcean). Regarding the Skype ID from what I know freelancer forbids the sharing of contact details. Thank you for your time! Best wishes, Ionut

When I am not building products for my customers here on freelancer, I am a volunteer for the International Federation of Trekkers. Our organization, made up of multiple chapters spread throughout the globe where we celebrate Star Trek. Our main system that we use for Instant Messaging is Openfire. I have integrated Openfire with Wordpress, LDAP, and even with it's own authentication. In addition, I have integrated Openfire with other systems to allow websites to have "request Chat IM support" capabilities on websites.
