1. Research - Analyze the following alternatives in terms of which one will allow us to implement? a basic shopping cart system in the least time possible:
? ? ? a. Install the PHP shopping cart system PayPal makes available with extensive documentation on how to install the system. This is described in the Merchant Tools section of the PayPal website. The shopping cart software is in PayPal Website Payment Pro.
? ? ? b. Install an Open Source system that would allow me to resell the Open Source system. Google searches will help.
? ? ? c. Install a proprietary system that will allow the software to be resold. I can recommend a website that lists the best proprietary websites.
2. Implementation - Although I want a basic system, I would like it to be able to accept as many items as possible. The items will be associated with at least? four variables: size, color, style and price. Therefore, we will need a system that can accomodate more then four variables associated with an item.
The shopping cart will pick the items from the content management database. The database will contain an item number associated with each item. When a user clicks on a buy button near the item displayed, the item gets placed in the shopping cart.
The CMS interface exists. Our administrator can install an item number in the CMS database for the shopping cart to pick up and key on for a description of the item, size, color, style and price, at a minimum. The shopping cart system will need to pick up this data from the CMS.
