Opencart - Fix "Invalid File Type" to enable Extension Installer

I have installed open cart 2.3, configured ftp properly, but cannot upload extensions via zip file. As a workaround, I installed "QuickFix: Extensions Installer issue when FTP support disabled", then disabled ftp, which did nothing to solve this problem. Once this problem is resolved, I would like to install "Custom Seo Urls Opencart", which I purchased and is currently sitting in the home directory of our web server. Please do not bid on this project unless you have extensive experience specifically with Open Cart and can provide verifiable references.
