I need a website home page validating. It is has the following errors on the page. Below are the results of attempting to parse this document with an SGML parser. Error Line 19 column 7: required attribute "TYPE" not specified. <script> The attribute given above is required for an element that you've used, but you have omitted it. For instance, in most HTML and XHTML document types the "type" attribute is required on the "script" element and the "alt" attribute is required for the "img" element. Typical values for type are type="text/css" for <style> and type="text/javascript" for <script>. ✉ Error Line 66 column 7: required attribute "TYPE" not specified. <script> ✉ Error Line 90 column 27: required attribute "TYPE" not specified. <script language=JavaScript> ✉ Error Line 130 column 63: document type does not allow element "LINK" here. ...=Stylesheet type="text/css" media=all href="style.css"> The element named above was found in a context where it is not allowed. This could mean that you have incorrectly nested elements -- such as a "style" element in the "body" section instead of inside "head" -- or two elements that overlap (which is not allowed). One common cause for this error is the use of XHTML syntax in HTML documents. Due to HTML's rules of implicitly closed elements, this error can create cascading effects. For instance, using XHTML's "self-closing" tags for "meta" and "link" in the "head" section of a HTML document may cause the parser to infer the end of the "head" section and the beginning of the "body" section (where "link" and "meta" are not allowed; hence the reported error). ✉ Error Line 134 column 6: end tag for element "HEAD" which is not open. </head> The Validator found an end tag for the above element, but that element is not currently open. This is often caused by a leftover end tag from an element that was removed during editing, or by an implicitly closed element (if you have an error related to an element being used where it is not allowed, this is almost certainly the case). In the latter case this error will disappear as soon as you fix the original problem. If this error occured in a script section of your document, you should probably read this FAQ entry. ✉ Error Line 138 column 21: document type does not allow element "BODY" here. <body bgcolor="white"> ✉ Error Line 388 column 21: required attribute "ACTION" not specified. <form name="menuform"> ✉ Error Line 408 column 5: end tag for "FORM" omitted, but its declaration does not permit this. </div> You forgot to close a tag, or you used something inside this tag that was not allowed, and the validator is complaining that the tag should be closed before such content can be allowed. The next message, "start tag was here" points to the particular instance of the tag in question); the positional indicator points to where the validator expected you to close the tag. ✉ Info Line 388 column 0: start tag was here. <form name="menuform"> Error Line 410 column 24: value of attribute "ALIGN" cannot be "TOP"; must be one of "LEFT", "CENTER", "RIGHT", "JUSTIFY", "CHAR". <td width="1" align="top" valign="top"></td> The value of the attribute is defined to be one of a list of possible values but in the document it contained something that is not allowed for that type of attribute. For instance, the “selected” attribute must be either minimized as “selected” or spelled out in full as “selected="selected"”; a value like “selected="true"” is not allowed. ✉ Error Line 411 column 6: end tag for element "FORM" which is not open. </form> ✉ Error Line 421 column 26: there is no attribute "BACKGROUND". <td height="3" background="images/dots-tiny.gif"></td> You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead). This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for further information. How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute, (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the <embed> element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the FAQ item on valid flash. ✉ Error Line 445 column 52: document type does not allow element "FORM" here. <form action="search.php" method="post" name="sform"> ✉ Error Line 446 column 3: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr> ✉ Error Line 448 column 3: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr> ✉ Error Line 453 column 24: value of attribute "ALIGN" cannot be "TOP"; must be one of "LEFT", "CENTER", "RIGHT", "JUSTIFY", "CHAR". <td width="1" align="top" valign="top"> </td> ✉ Error Line 479 column 17: there is no attribute "LEFTMARGIN". <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0"> ✉ Error Line 479 column 31: there is no attribute "TOPMARGIN". <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0"> ✉ Error Line 479 column 34: document type does not allow element "BODY" here. <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0"> ✉ Error Line 529 column 47: document type does not allow element "FORM" here. <form name="loginform" method="post" action="#"> ✉ Error Line 542 column 78: document type does not allow element "META" here. ...LMRfTKUKWl4dEeTVL4BgBQd2xuc5nxtEvWHE=" /> ✉ Error Line 543 column 55: document type does not allow element "LINK" here. <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> ✉ Error Line 546 column 52: document type does not allow element "BODY" here. <body link="#FF9900" vlink="#FF9900" alink="#FF9900"> ✉ Error Line 570 column 127: required attribute "ALT" not specified. ..." width="307" height="325" border="0"></a><strong><br> ✉ Error Line 629 column 27: there is no attribute "SRC". <embed src="db_intro.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www ✉ Error Line 629 column 50: there is no attribute "QUALITY". ... <embed src="db_intro.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="[login to view URL] ✉ Error Line 629 column 69: there is no attribute "PLUGINSPAGE". ...ntro.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="[login to view URL] ✉ Error Line 629 column 120: there is no attribute "TYPE". ...cromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="3 ✉ Error Line 629 column 158: there is no attribute "WIDTH". ...application/x-shockwave-flash" width="312" height="117"></embed></object> ✉ Error Line 629 column 171: there is no attribute "HEIGHT". ...-shockwave-flash" width="312" height="117"></embed></object> ✉ Error Line 629 column 176: element "EMBED" undefined. ...kwave-flash" width="312" height="117"></embed></object> You have used the element named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not define an element of that name. This error is often caused by: incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Frameset" document type to get the "<frameset>" element), by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "<spacer>" or "<marquee>" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead). by using upper-case tags in XHTML (in XHTML attributes and elements must be all lower-case. ✉ Error Line 638 column 63: document type does not allow element "FORM" here; missing one of "TH", "TD" start-tag. ... <form method="post" action="subscribe.php" name="sub"> The mentioned element is not allowed to appear in the context in which you've placed it; the other mentioned elements are the only ones that are both allowed there and can contain the element mentioned. This might mean that you need a containing element, or possibly that you've forgotten to close a previous element. One possible cause for this message is that you have attempted to put a block-level element (such as "<p>" or "<table>") inside an inline element (such as "<a>", "<span>", or "<font>"). ✉ Error Line 639 column 52: document type does not allow element "TD" here. <td height="72" colspan="2" align="left"> <p><br> ✉ Error Line 648 column 12: end tag for "TR" which is not finished. </tr> Most likely, You nested tags and closed them in the wrong order. Acceptable nesting is: <p><em>...</em></p> Another possibility is that you used an element which requires a child element that you did not include. Hence the parent element is "not finished", not complete. For instance, <head> generally requires a <title>, lists (ul, ol, dl) require list items (li, or dt, dd), and so on. ✉ Error Line 649 column 55: document type does not allow element "FORM" here. <form name="loginform" method="post" action="#"> ✉ Error Line 666 column 40: required attribute "ACTION" not specified. <form name="casestudies"> ✉ Error Line 666 column 40: document type does not allow element "FORM" here; missing one of "TH", "TD" start-tag. <form name="casestudies"> ✉ Error Line 667 column 49: document type does not allow element "TD" here. <td height="28" valign="bottom"> <p>  ✉ Error Line 694 column 60: document type does not allow element "TD" here. <td width="17" rowspan="2" valign="bottom"> </td> ✉ Error Line 703 column 183: there is no attribute "SCALE". ...application/x-shockwave-flash" scale="noborder"> ✉ Error Line 703 column 193: element "EMBED" undefined. ...n/x-shockwave-flash" scale="noborder"> ✉ Error Line 717 column 65: start tag for "LI" omitted, but its declaration does not permit this. ... <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> ✉ Error Line 754 column 22: document type does not allow element "TD" here; assuming missing "TR" start-tag. </tr><td colspan="2"> ✉ Error Line 756 column 32: value of attribute "ALIGN" cannot be "LRFT"; must be one of "LEFT", "CENTER", "RIGHT". <table width="290" align="lrft" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="frontpa ✉ Error Line 759 column 10: end tag for "TABLE" omitted, but its declaration does not permit this. </td></tr> ✉ Info Line 756 column 2: start tag was here. <table width="290" align="lrft" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="frontpa Error Line 764 column 9: end tag for element "TD" which is not open. </td> ✉ Error Line 766 column 6: end tag for element "TR" which is not open. </tr> ✉ Error Line 786 column 5: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr><td colspan="2"> </td></tr> ✉ Error Line 787 column 5: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr><td colspan="2"> </td></tr> ✉ Error Line 788 column 5: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr><td colspan="2"> </td></tr> ✉ Error Line 789 column 5: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr> ✉ Error Line 795 column 36: required attribute "ACTION" not specified. <form name='login' method="post"> ✉ Error Line 839 column 5: document type does not allow element "TR" here. <tr></tr> ✉ Error Line 839 column 10: end tag for "TR" which is not finished. <tr></tr> ✉ Error Line 840 column 22: end tag for element "TABLE" which is not open. <!-- FOOTER --></table> ✉ Error Line 847 column 6: end tag for "DIV" omitted, but its declaration does not permit this. </body> ✉ Info Line 763 column 2: start tag was here. <div align="left"> Error Line 847 column 6: end tag for "DIV" omitted, but its declaration does not permit this. </body> ✉ Info Line 762 column 0: start tag was here. <div align='justify'> Error Line 848 column 14: end tag for element "DIV" which is not open. </html> </div> ✉ Error Line 849 column 5: end tag for element "DIV" which is not open. </div>
