Here are some common types of assets: Current Assets: These are assets that are expected to be converted into cash or used up within one year. Examples include cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable (money owed to the company by customers), inventory, and short-term investments. Fixed Assets: Also known as property, plant, and equipment (PP&E), these are long-term assets with a useful life of more than one year. Examples include land, buildings, machinery, vehicles, and furniture. Financial Assets: These represent investments in financial instruments, such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and derivatives. Financial assets are typically held for trading purposes or to generate income through dividends, interest, or capital appreciation. Intangible Assets: These are non-physical assets that lack a physical form but still hold value. Examples include patents, copyrights, trademarks, brand names, goodwill, and software. Natural Resources: Assets derived from the earth, such as oil, gas, minerals, and timber, are classified as natural resources. Companies engaged in industries like mining or forestry have such assets. Assets are recorded on a company's balance sheet, where they are listed alongside liabilities (debts) and shareholders' equity, providing a snapshot of the company's financial position at a specific point in time.
