‘Valkyrie’ themed illustration for Naval helicopter team

We are a group of Navy aviators and maintainers, known as Flight 7, who fly and maintain the MH-60R Seahawk “Romeo” helicopter, both at land at sea when deployed to warships. We’re seeking a custom artwork design, in 4 versions adapted for different applications listed below, that represents the role of Flight 7 through the symbolism of Valkyrie. Valkyrie represents the role of the MH-60R “Romeo” through the symbolism of a flying warrior who is able to both attack and defend. The use of AGM-114 Hellfire missile in place of a Valkyrie spear symbolises offensive capability specific to MH-60R, and the shield symbolises defensive capability in protecting ships. Artwork versions: We require 4 variations of the 1 main artwork theme, which consist of: - Version 1: 4 inch circular patches that will be worn on our military uniforms (example attached) - Version 2: 2x3 inch rectangular patches that will be worn on our military uniforms - Version 3: a decal that will be affixed to the external of a Romeo helicopter (example attached) - Version 4: a callsign ‘Valkyrie’ decal that will be affixed to the external of a Romeo helicopter (example attached, decal is located above the right hand side cockpit windows) - Version 5: stickers, tee shirts and challenge coins The primary purpose of the artwork is to create the patches and helicopter decals. Secondary applications will be stickers, tee shirts, and challenge coins. This design request is to create the artwork that can be used for these applications; our Flight will source production of all items – we just need the artwork of a passionate designer! Note: The attached version examples are currently utilised by Flight 7 and reflect a current callsign of “Athena.” We’re seeking a new design that can used in the same way. While our Flight is looking for a new and different design to the current Athena artwork by all means use the inspiration. Timeline: We have a timeframe of 1.5 weeks to receipt of all artwork versions. Design brief: Theme: Valkyrie. This is the callsign of the helicopter and your artwork will be Flight 7’s symbol. We are looking for an illustration matches the warrior character of the MH-60R. Definition for Valkyrie: [login to view URL] Suggested concept: Valkyrie riding atop a winged flying horse that is reared on hind legs. With one hand Valkyrie is holding and posed as if to throw a single AGM-114 Hellfire missile downward and forward, while holding a shield with engraved with "7" and a Nordic style pattern (example attached). The Valkyrie should not have wings, the horse may or may not (winged is preferred, however it may prove difficult to fit a winged horse onto a patch). The Valkyrie should be conservatively clothed in armour. Version specific information: Note - the nature of use of this artwork will prevent fine detail being used due to limitations in patch embroidery/printing and decal creation. Versions 1 and 2. Artwork must be primarily in typical “military” colours (black, white, grey, olive drab, green drab) with 1 or 2 feature colours (ie are gold, yellow, orange, red, blue). No bright fluros that don't match traditional military aesthetic are requested. Version 3. Artwork that will be created into helicopter decal. The artwork needs to be in a format that will allow the decal to be black and/or grey and transparent. The size of the decal will be approx. 2 foot tall. Version 4. ‘Valkyrie’ callsign artwork in same font used in the artwork that will be created into a black/grey sticker and placed on aircraft. The size of the decal will be approx. 1 foot tall. Version 5. Artwork suitable for use on screen-printed shirts, stickers, challenge coins. Essentially, the same as Versions 1 and 2 with no restrictions of use of colour. If no additional colours are used in the design, we will use Versions 1 and 2 as version 5. I am available to answer questions and provide clarification or direction as much as you require.
