I need a very patient tutor. I am 3 months into my executive MBA. I have straight distinctions on all non-mathematic based modules… But Analytics for Business and Account are my nemesis. I am looking to do several 1:1 classes, either over Skype or preferable face to face, between now and my exams on 2nd Feb.
We need to cover things like WACC, Normal distribution, hypothesis, confience intervals, various accounting/financial ratios, etc etc. Any applicants who I am interested in speaking to, will need to answer 2 typical questions as a qualification test.
I was tone deaf up until the age of 8. This did not just mean that I would have unlikely been a good singer, but also that I had difficulty in hearing sounds with a deeper tone/pitch. Evidently, adult male voices were particularly hard for me to concentrate on. Coincidently, adult male teachers also happened to be all that I had experienced since starting school. Because my hearing difficulty was “selective” depending on who I was listening to, my issue remained undiscovered until I was 8 years old. Before this time I was simply perceived to be a difficult child to teach with an incredibly short attention span and unlimited bounds for daydreaming (i.e. a bit of a troublemaker). A simple operation resolved the issue almost overnight… But some damage had already been done. My ability to read and write was far behind average (at 7, I could hardly read or write at all). The next 4 years saw me change schools twice, and class 4 times. In hindsight, I feel that I had very poor consistency with learning. Especially with subjects that built on previous learning such as French and Maths.
… Fast forward 30 years, and Maths is my nemesis… and it genuinely affects me. If I know I am going into a meeting or class that contains some sort of mathematical/financial deep dive, I’ll be losing sleep a few days before and I’ll often feel dread in my stomach to the point of making me feel physically sick. Show me an equation, algebra or fractions and my mind goes into a semi-panic. Although I am averaging 70%+ in each of individual & group coursework submitted so far, the biggest win would be to simply pass these nemeses exams with anything in excess of 40%.
