Android Inventory Barcode Scanner App Project

The idea of this app is to make it as streamlined and quick as possible to transfer inventory from one bin location on the warehouse to the next. Barcoded bin IDs will be at the actual locations being transferred to/from, and special barcodes on reports would have the part/rev/warehouse/old bin or part/rev/warehouse values present (depending on whether it is being transferred from a know bin location or not). The process should be as streamlined as this: • Enter employee ID/Password to “log in” to app (stays “logged in” unless app closes or user forces logout). Otherwise stays on “home” screen for bin transfers • User scans barcode for part/rev/warehouse/origin bin, or scans for part/rev/warehouse and then immediately scans the origin (old) bin barcode • User scans “new” bin where the product is moving to • User types quantity • User submits change • Code creates new bin location if it does not exist • Process SQL transactions to do bin transfer • Has “success” screen or inline message that appears on screen • Values cleared for next possible scan If fields on entry screen can be coded for focus (For example, Part ID field shows Part ID and when alt+P is pressed would set focus to that field) then existing barcodes should be able to do much of the heavy lifting…otherwise will need a field for barcode scanning and parsing.
