High-quality photos of your working environment as an Indian freelancer

Job Instructions We are writing two research reports about online freelancing work or cloudwork, i.e. such as the work that freelancers do on Freelancer. We want you to take high quality photos of your work environment that we can publish in these reports. One of the reports focuses on India, which is why we are interested in Indian freelancers to do this job! Please submit 1-4 high quality photos of the room in which you do most of the work that you do for Freelancer. We want images that give the viewer a sense of the space, or spaces, that you primarily work in. The photos should have the following considerations: Photo composition: • The primary consideration should be: if you wanted someone to have a good sense of where you work and what your work environment looks like, what should they see. • Someone else should take the photo, and you should be in the photo. i.e. we want to see where you sit to do your work, and see you sitting there. • Your face should ideally not be in the photo. Look to the side, or have the photo be taken from behind. This is to help anonymise you. • Try not to have any personal identifying or otherwise sensitive information in the photo (e.g. no ID cards or letters with your address), but there’s no need to clean up the room or otherwise change it from its normal state. • Include as much of the room as possible. We ideally don’t just want a photo of your workstation, but a photo of the desk and the room it is in. • If possible, take the photos in the day time and let as much natural light into the room as possible. Otherwise, the image will be grainy. However, avoid strong contrasts or silhouettes created by direct sunlight. • Don’t use flash if possible. • Please check to make sure the image is not blurry or out of focus. • Please check to make sure there isn’t anything obscuring parts of the image (like your thumb). Technical requirements: • Please make sure you use the highest image resolution and least compressed setting possible. • Aim for the photo to have a resolution of at least 300 DPI, at least 1500 x 2100 pixel resolution, and a minimum file size of 800 KB for jpeg • Submit your photo in any image format: jpeg, png, tiff, psd, eps, etc. We are sharing some example photographs to give you an idea of what we are looking for. We will pay $10 for submitting 1-4 photos. By submitting the image, you hand over copyright to the Fairwork project. We will select some (but not all) of the submitted images for publication in one or more of our reports about cloudwork. We may reuse the images in subsequent research reports. So please make sure you are happy for anything you submit to be published. Who are we? We are the Fairwork Project, a research project based at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. Please note that some of these photos were taken at night time, but we would like you to take the photos during the day time if possible.
