Your first query may be written by LIMIT very easily, you don't need even to use the inner query there. Now you need to add one search function where user will search by charater name. And it should fetch that user record + 49 next ranking user records. It is easy. We can do that in few hours.

I can help you with this project, but I would need some clarifications about it. The search is only made in those 50 players, or in all of them? Is there a design to be used for displaying?
