This site: [login to view URL] Contains the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs, aka Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14) online, as they were revised on 17 Feb 2005. WARNING: this site is occaisonally down. Make sure you can reach it to have a look before bidding! The FARs are basically laws. We have these laws from 2004 in an access database (which is attached here). Your task is to download the 2005 laws from the current website (above) and replace the data currently in the access database with the 2005 rules. VERY IMPORTANT: the format of the data must match what is in the database now. That is to say, while doing your screen scraping, you need to remove unnecessary junk. Basically, the database needs to look like it does now, except with 2005 data, not 2004 data. Comments on the tables in the DB: 1. CHAPTER - you probably can leave this as it is (no changes required, I think) 2. CHAPTERURLS - Ignore this table (no changes required) 3. PART - make sure that this list is correct. You can correct it manually if you like, or you can write a program to check it (your choice). 4. VOLUME - this is correct, I think. Leave as-is. (no changes required) 5. SECTION - this is where 98% of your work will be. Obviously "PartID" needs to match the PartID in the PART table. "Downloaded" (yes/no field) is completely up to you (you can ignore it if you like). Again, you are REPLACING all the data. Please DO NOT BID without carefully looking at the .mdb file and also the website. Thank you for your bids!
## Deliverables
1) access database returned as described with 2005 data in it. YOU MUST TAKE CARE TO ENSURE THAT THE DATA IS FORMATTED AS IT IS IN THE 2004 DATABASE WITHOUT EXTRA UNNECESSARY JUNK IN THERE. PLEASE LOOK AT THE DATA CARFULLY BEFORE BIDDING TO MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO THIS! 2) not 100% necessary, but preference will be given to coders who will also give source code (VB6 preferred) for the screen-scrape program they wrote to create the databse. You need only to deliver this if you said you would in your bid. Your screen scrape program should at least fill in the SECTION table.
## Platform
1. MS-access. 2. programming language is your choice, but VB6 preferred. heck, you can do it by hand (manual data entry) if you really want to, but this is probably best if somebody writes a little screen scrape program.
