Users that have Windows Service Pack 2 installed on their PC get the yellow bar on the top of the browser page instead of the gray prompt window for ActiveX installation.
Users with SP2 seldom see the yellow bar, and even if we point to it, few users would bother clicking on it and succeed in installing the ActiveX from there, plus they can't read the information on the certificate like that.
I would like to find a better way to serve SP2 users an ActiveX.
Some while ago, I think on the Macromedia site, I saw that it created an image on the center of the page on which to click in some way to install the ActiveX (for SP2 users).
The code you create should therefore detect if a user has SP2 installed and have different scenarios: if not installed, the normal page loads with the normal ActiveX prompt; if SP2 is installed, the normal page loads with something that facilitates the ActiveX installation and is user friendly and intuitive.
As a last resort, if you don't find a solution for the above, we could have it so SP2 users get an alternative link displayed that they can click on and perhaps download a traditional .exe file.
Finally, we would prefer if the code can be protected from anyone who wants to put it on its own website after seeing it on ours.
