WP Plugin: Keep chosen categories and terms in correct hierarchy in post edit metabox The problem... on the post edit screen in WordPress there is a category metabox that shows the categories in hierarchy, this is the same for a custom term metabox (with hierarchy). when you chose your child category and update your post the category tree list changes so that the chosen categories move to the top of the tree list and disappear from the original category tree. What I want... I want the chosen categories to remain within the category tree and not moved to the top of the category tree list even.

I had a quick look at your requirement and the code fix. To fix your requirement I think I might have to change some core Wordpress files as there is no hook or filter supported for that change. But changing core Wordpress file is not recommended. But I have an other solution for you I can prefix the Parent Category Name to the Child Category name so that way even if the hierarchy was changed you will still know the parent for that child category.
