Style Sheet, Guidelines and Agreement We appreciate writers who follow our style sheet because you make our jobs easier. Following our guidelines will increase the possibility that we’ll place direct orders with you. Please do not pick-up an article from us if you can’t follow these instructions. These articles are guest posts that will be going on a variety of blogs, including blogs that are focused on first-person accounts. It’s okay to put some of your personality into these and to be informal to keep readers entertained. Please don't write fluff, useless information, or run-on sentences, and avoid making the article look like an advertisement for a lawyer. You’ll also want to avoid repeating information. We use the inverted pyramid style of content, so be sure to answer the question in the headline in the first paragraph. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Anchor Text We will assign anchor text along with the article’s title. The anchor text needs to be left exactly as it is with no modifications. It can be placed anywhere in the article except the first paragraph. Please do not put this text in the same spot in every article. Associated Press Stylebook All articles should be written in AP style. As of 2017, AP style allows for the use of “they” instead of “he or she.” For example, “Ask your lawyer and they will tell you.” According to AP style, the correct usage of “myriad” is not “a myriad of” or “myriads of.” For example, there are myriad choices. They had myriad options. Headers Use at least three headings besides the title. Your title should be in H1. Use H2 and H3 headers to break your content up. Use them in that order, with H2 headers following H1 and H3 following H2. Use the Title Case Converter tool set to “AP” on all headlines so your headers and subheaders will be capitalized according to AP style. Paragraph Length Paragraphs should be two to five lines each and no more than that. Font Use Arial 11 point font. Spacing Do not put a space between a header and a paragraph. Make sure your spacing is uniform. Punctuation Before a bulleted list use a colon (:) not a semi-colon (;). Numbers Spell out numbers one through nine. Use numerals for numbers 10 and above. Spell out first through ninth and use numerals for 10th and above. Bullet Points Create one or two bulleted lists in each article. Try to vary where you put your lists within the article. You can put them toward the beginning, in the middle, or toward the end. Commas We use the Oxford Comma.
