Hi, let's discuss it via chat. I have use various kind of microcontroller for various kind of project in last 8 years. I have experience using atmega and STM32 for military purpose, Robotics, and IoT. I think It would faster the development if its using Arduino software, I mean, we just using Arduino as platform for firmware development. and download it's hex file directly to atmega using ISP. I have experience with several Atmel microcontrollers: megas, xmegas, tinys. I've used them in modules for manufacturing equipment. One of devices I worked on functioned as a MODBUS slave, and I created a wireless adapter device that works over 802.11 WiFi or Zigbee. I've also done some work with stepper motors.
